Linda Joyce (Wiebe) Schulz, 70, went to dance with Jesus on Friday, February 27th at 4:27am.
After her courageous battle with liver cancer, she is now healed!
Linda was born in Altona MB on November 7th, 1955 to Peter “R” and Sarah Wiebe. She was the second oldest of seven siblings. Linda was raised in a Christian home in southern Manitoba. She attended Plankey Plains School, then graduated at Vita Highschool. She loved to sing in the school choir.
After graduating, Linda worked in Winnipeg as a secretary for the Grey Goose bus garage. The following year, she attended Winkler Bible School.
On June 19, 1976, Linda married Peter Cornelius Schulz in Altona. For the first few years they lived near Langruth, Holmfield, and McCreary, before building their home south of Dauphin, close to Dauphin Bible Camp and Riding Mountain National Park.
She served many summers at Dauphin Bible Camp as a secretary, cabin counselor, kitchen help, head cook, wrangler, and even a week as head wrangler. She served 20 years in Awana leadership at Parkside Gospel Church, and 15 years with Dauphin’s Christian music festival “Jesus ManiFest”. She also helped seniors with housekeeping for a number of years.
Linda raised 3 wonderful children - Jeremy, Pearl and Jeffrey , whom she home schooled for several years. Linda loved children. She jumped at every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed caring for the kids at “Mom’s Morning Out” and being involved in “Grandma’s Prayer Support”, praying for children and grandchildren.
Linda was fond of nature. She spent lots of time outdoors, watching and feeding birds (especially hummingbirds), gardening, camping, hiking, taking photos of landscapes and flowers, sitting in the gazebo, crafting, and most importantly, walking and playing with her dog Bowser and caring for her kitties.
In 2023, Linda was diagnosed with liver cancer. Over half of her liver was removed. She was “in remission by surgery”. In January of 2026, she was informed that the cancer had returned. The treatment began immediately. However, due to complications, she was not able to continue the treatments.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, 8 months, and 8 days, Peter, her 3 children, Jeremy (Nicole Sawatszky) and his 3 children Tyrell, Teryn and Shelby; Pearl and her two children Bryden and Kieryn; Jeffrey (Lisa Smith); her 6 siblings, and a multitude of extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 7th at 2pm at Parkside Gospel Church.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Parkside Gospel Capital Fund parksidegospelcapital@gmail.com or to Cancer Care Manitoba.
